At our Christ Church and Claremont programs, we run by school term, so bookings are made for the term period via the website, app or over the phone and payment is made in advance. You need to re-book for each new school term and will be advised when bookings open. Squad and Club programs at these sites are run continuously, via fortnightly direct debit.
At Mandurah, Karrinyup and Melville, we run our lessons continuously throughout the year, meaning that you stay in the same lesson, day and time, until you are ready to move or progress to the next level. This can be done at any time. Lessons are charged fortnightly, in advance. This allows for maximum flexibility for change to fit in with family schedules and progress as you are not locked into days and times.
The contract of enrolment can be cancelled within 7 days of commencement and without further obligation.
Yes, at Karrinyup, Melville and Mandurah.
We understand that children sometimes get sick, and holidays or other commitments can occur. At these locations we off you 10 make-up lessons per calendar year – we just ask that you notify us with a minimum of 4 hours’ notice, through the app or customer portal. Once your scheduled class has passed, you will receive a make-up token in your inbox with 30 days to book your lesson via the app/portal.
At Christ Church and Claremont, we don’t offer blanket make-up lessons due to the term-based nature of the lessons. We do however have the flexibility to be able to offer, on occasion, a lesson where there is a free space, if possible.
Yes, at Karrinyup, Mandurah, Christ Church (Elite/Adult squads only) and Melville, we just require 2 lessons notice in writing (via email or form at the desk) or via the app. We obviously like to know the reason for cancelling to assist us in ensuring we can make changes when needed to improve everything we offer, and we always welcome you back at any time on your swimming journey.
For our Term based bookings at Christ Church and Claremont we accept cancellations of lessons up to 7 days prior to the commencement of Term and a full refund will be given. Cancellations in the week prior to the commencement of term will incur a $10 admin fee and a 50% refund of fees will be given. To preserve teaching quality and experience cancellations cannot be accepted once the term has commenced.
Baby Program (Karrinyup, Mandurah, Melville) = Maximum 8
Learn to Swim Program = From 2 in the beginner levels, this increases up to 3-4 swimmers in our mid levels of the Learn to Swim program and 4-6 in our highest levels (max)
Our Fast and Fit (squad) Programs have from 7 to 9 swimmers per coach.
Baby swimmers need to wear a fitted REUSABLE aqua nappy in the water, these are available from Kirby Swim or most supermarkets. Children in a learn to swim or squad level need a snug fitting pair of bathers and a pair of goggles too. We recommend swim caps for children with long hair, fabric caps are available from Kirby Swim too, these are much more comfortable to wear.
We aim to have every lesson, for every child, to be a great experience. We take this seriously! If you have concerns about your child’s lessons or progress, we welcome you to discuss any of these with our on-deck Supervisor, they can be found on pool deck in the dark blue Kirby Swim Team shirt. Each site also has a dedicated Program Manager who is tasked with making sure that each child is learning and progressing to their maximum potential and will be happy to discuss your learning at any time.
For the Baby Program at Mandurah, Melville and Karrinyup, the minimum age is 6 weeks, we recommend after first vaccinations. Parents/carers are required in the pool, up until 3 years of age (this can be any parent or carer and can change at any time)
Children are welcomed to transition to parent-free lessons from 3 years of age at all our facilities. We are experienced with managing these transitions and offer a gentle and nurturing approach to first time swimmers, especially nervous ones.
We offer lessons at all sites on Saturdays, and Sundays (Karrinyup only).
Yes, we do. Our program continues throughout the entire year, and we close only over the Christmas & New Year Period for around 10 days. We also offer Holiday Programs for intensive lessons each school holidays.
We have supervisors that continually assess the classes, to ensure the swimmers level and learning are optimal. We also have their ongoing skill attainments available on the portal/app for you to view progress. In addition, we also have structured assessment/parent feedback weeks set in the calendar approximately every 10-12 weeks. We take progression seriously and offer a continual assessment approach vs an ‘end of term’ assessment approach. We believe this gives children and parents the best swimming experience.
